How Canvas Design Studio Works

What is Canvas Design Studio?#

Canvas Design Studio puts a full drag-and-drop design editor on your Shopify product pages. Customers personalise labels, stickers, stamps, apparel prints, engraving art and more — right on your storefront — and every completed order arrives with print-ready production files attached. No email back-and-forth, no fixing 72-DPI artwork, no design software required on either side.

This is a small working taste of what your customers get:

The flow, end to end#

1. You create a template — in the same studio your customers use, plus merchant-only authoring tools. Or adopt one of the ~140 professionally designed starter templates (labels, jars, beer bottles, stamps, circles, ovals and more).
2. You attach it to products — per product or per variant, with default fallbacks.
3. A customer designs — via the "Design your own" button, a simple form, or an inline canvas that replaces the product gallery image. You choose the mode per template. See Lockdown & Customer Modes.
4. Preflight keeps it printable — bleed, trim, and safe-zone guides are drawn live on the canvas, and warnings fire before submit if something won't print well.
5. They add to cart — the design preview attaches to the cart line item; the customer can still edit it before checkout.
6. You get production files — high-res PNG at your target DPI, print-ready PDF, vector SVG, and a cut-path die-line, downloadable from your Designs gallery. See Production Files & Preflight.
